Two Suspected Hezbollah Operatives Arrested in Major Counterterrorism Sweep
picture hole

The Metropolitan Police revealed on Thursday that two men suspected of being Hezbollah operatives were arrested earlier this week in connection with a sweeping investigation into terrorist activity and funding.

The suspects, aged 39 and 35, were apprehended in coordinated operations by the Met’s elite Counter Terrorism Command in west London. The older suspect is accused of being deeply involved in the planning of terrorist acts, membership in the proscribed organization, and financing terrorism. The younger man, also from west London, was arrested solely on suspicion of membership in the Lebanese terror group.

The arrests were part of a wider operation that included searches at five locations across the region: two in northwest London, and one each in west London, southwest London, and Essex. Authorities have not disclosed what was uncovered during the raids.

Despite the gravity of the charges, both men have been released on bail and are due in court in mid-July—a decision that has sparked sharp criticism and growing public concern.

The Campaign Against Antisemitism (CAA) condemned the bail decision, warning that it could pose a danger to Londoners. “Hezbollah is a proscribed antisemitic genocidal terror group, which seeks the murder of all Jews, and has carried out terrorist attacks against Jews all over the world—from Burgas to Buenos Aires,” the organization said. The CAA called on Home Secretary Yvette Cooper to intervene and ensure the public is protected, citing a 2015 discovery of three metric tonnes of Hezbollah explosives hidden in London as a sobering precedent.

Commander Dominic Murphy, head of the Met Counter Terrorism Command, sought to calm fears, saying that there is currently no indication of an imminent threat to the public. However, he emphasized that the investigation—spanning both the UK and overseas—is active and ongoing.

“Terrorism and terrorists have a global reach and impact,” Murphy said. “The activities of terrorist groups overseas can harm communities here in the UK as well as cause devastation abroad.”

The Community Security Trust (CST), a Jewish security organization, echoed concerns, stating on Tuesday that it has long warned about the global threat posed by Hezbollah and similar groups

Gov’t to consider ‘retaliatory action’ over US hikes
picture hole

The government is considering retaliatory action over Donald Trump’s trade tariffs on the UK, with businesses to be consulted over the potential impact of such charges.

Trump slapped a 10% tariff on UK exports to the US on Wednesday as he confirmed sweeping import levies on countries across the world on what he referred to as “liberation day”.

Business and trade secretary Jonathan Reynolds told the Commons the UK government will seek the views of business stakeholders until 1 May on products that could potentially be included in any tariff response.

He said the government believes a deal with the US is “possible” and “favourable” but added that the UK reserves the right to take any action it deems necessary if an agreement is not secured.

Israel News
Turkey accuses Israel of destabilizing Syria, demands end to airstrikes
picture hole

Turkey demands Israel withdraw from Syria and says it must stop harming stabilization efforts there, after Israel stepped up airstrikes in the neighboring country and accused Turkey of trying to turn Syria into a Turkish protectorate.

“Israel has become the greatest threat to regional security” and is a “strategic destabilizer, causing chaos and feeding terrorism,” the foreign ministry in Ankara says.

“Therefore, in order to establish security throughout the region, Israel must first abandon its expansionist policies, withdraw from the territories it occupies, and stop undermining efforts to establish stability in Syria,” it adds.

Earlier today, Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar accused Ankara of playing a “negative role” in Syria, saying that “they are doing their utmost to have Syria as a Turkish protectorate. It’s clear that is their intention.”

Trump says Netanyahu may visit US next week
picture hole

US President Donald Trump says Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu may visit the United States next week.

“I think he’s going to be coming to the country some time in the not-so-distant future. Maybe next week,” Trump tells reporters aboard Air Force One, confirming that he spoke to the Israeli premier earlier today.

Netanyahu just visited the US in early February, becoming the first foreign leader to meet with Trump. His office had not mentioned an imminent visit to the US.

Netanyahu’s office said earlier today that he spoke with Trump alongside Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban to discuss Budapest’s withdrawal from the International Criminal Court.

Netanyahu is not slated to return to Israel from Hungary until Sunday morning. The weeklong Passover holiday begins next weekend.

IDF issues evacuation order for parts of Gaza City after rocket fired at Israel

Following rocket fire from the central Gaza Strip on Nahal Oz this evening, the IDF issues an evacuation warning for Palestinians in the south Gaza City area.

In a post on X, the IDF’s Arabic-language spokesman, Col. Avichay Adraee, publishes a map of the area that is to be evacuated, saying this is a “final warning” before the IDF carries out strikes there.

The warning includes the Gaza City neighborhoods of Zeitoun, Tel al-Hawa and Sabra. Adraee calls on Palestinians to leave the area and head to the Mawasi area on the coast of the Strip’s south.

The rocket launched at Nahal Oz was intercepted by air defenses, and there were no reports of injuries. The Palestinian Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility.
