| US, UK and 27 more countries warn Iran against further attacks on West, after British base plot |

The United States, United Kingdom, and foreign ministers of 27 other Western states blast Iran’s “use of violent attacks, including the acts of lethal plotting, arson, sabotage, cyber-attacks, and other hybrid activities against us and our partners.” “We recognize the United Kingdom’s attribution of Iran’s involvement in the incident at RAF Fairford on 27 September,” the joint statement says. “The UK has also concluded this event demonstrates the IRGC’s continued willingness to project hostile activity beyond its borders through covert networks and proxy actors.” The 29 states note that the UK plot comes after a “campaign of attacks across Europe targeting Jewish communities, Iranian journalists, and US interests.” They stress that any Iranian attempt to “threaten, silence, intimidate, harass, harm, or coerce people on our territories through proxies or any other means is unacceptable.” Tehran, they say, “should be in no doubt that we are united and remain committed to safeguarding our sovereignty and strengthening our international coordination, bolstering our national resilience, protecting our communities, and ensuring that those responsible are held to account.” The statement is also signed by Australia, Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden. |

| Saudis say they are running low on interceptors to thwart Houthi attacks |
![]() |

The Wall Street Journal cites Saudi officials as saying that they are running low on interceptor missiles needed to fend off ongoing strikes from the Iran-backed Houthi rebel group in Yemen. The newspaper reports — citing people familiar with the kingdom’s thinking — that Riyadh is “struggling to cover the vast country with air defense” and is moving missile defense batteries around the country in order to best protect both key energy infrastructure as well as its palaces. WSJ says Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman is moving carefully between “heavily guarded palaces equipped with bunkers” accompanied by handpicked security guards. |

| Teen killed, 24 injured by unexploded Hezbollah munition on hike near Lebanon border |

A teenager was killed and 24 school students and teachers were wounded, some of them seriously, in an explosion in northern Israel near the Lebanon border on Monday, where the group was hiking. The group of students and teachers from the ORT Ma’alot school were hiking the Naftali Mountains Forest scenic route in the Ramim Ridge area when, at around 3:30 p.m., a piece of unexploded ordnance, believed by the Israel Defense Forces to be a cluster submunition from a Hezbollah rocket, detonated. During the recent war, Hezbollah launched several Grad rockets containing dozens of BRB1-type submunitions at northern Israel. The rockets spread the submunitions over wide areas, and they often do not explode on impact. Although a sign posted by the KKL-JNF Jewish National Fund warned hikers away from the area, Monday’s hike had been approved by authorities. One of the schoolchildren is believed to have come across the unexploded submunition during the hike and put it in his backpack. Several minutes later, the submunition exploded, according to a preliminary probe by authorities. |

| Ethiopian Airlines flight to Israel forced to turn around due to Indonesian crew member |
![]() |
|
An Ethiopian Airlines cargo flight from Addis Ababa was forced to turn around midair overnight Sunday-Monday, after Israel refused to let it land with an Indonesian crewmember on board, according to multiple Hebrew media reports. Israel does not have diplomatic relations with Indonesia. The incident comes in the wake of the flydubai incident, in which an Omani pilot stabbed his co-pilot in an attempt to crash the plane. The incident revealed that hundreds of crew members from enemy states had flown into Israel, a major security risk. The list of crew members on the Ethiopian Airlines flight was only sent to Israel after take-off, Channel 13 reports. |

| Bereaved father says Israel ‘governed by lies,’ decries threats for criticism of Oct. 7 failures |

Eyal Eshel, whose daughter Roni was among 16 surveillance soldiers killed at the IDF’s Nahal Oz base on October 7, 2023, accuses the state and military of repeatedly lying to bereaved families and says he has received death threats over his criticism of the government’s failures. “We’re not in a country governed by law — we’re governed by lies,” Eshel tells the “Law and Lies” conference in Tel Aviv. “I’m on a mission, and Roni entrusted me with the mission of making things right.” Ahead of the Hamas-led invasion and massacre, surveillance soldiers, mainly young women, at Nahal Oz repeatedly warned that terrorists were training for an attack, but their warnings were dismissed. “I am tormented by the fact that I wasn’t the person who came to save her,” Eshel says. “Nobody came to save them because they were lied to. And through all of this, I’m saying that we’re still being lied to today.” Since October 7, Eshel has been attacked online and threatened with murder, largely by government supporters targeting bereaved families who criticize the handling of the disaster. Police located and questioned one man who threatened him, he says, but released him with a mere order to stay away from the Eshels’ home for 21 days. He adds that he has seen “three years full of fake news. They keep lying to us, and it’s gaining momentum.” “I didn’t create this — the state did. We’re a corrupt country. We lie to the whole world. Almost the whole world can’t stand us because we lie,” Eshel says. Campaigning for a state commission of inquiry into the October 7 failures, whose establishment Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has resisted, the bereaved father says: “I want the truth to come to light. I want to make clear to everyone that the mirror is shattered; it can’t be repaired, it has to be replaced. I hope that happens.” Urging voters to choose leaders who tell the truth, Eshel says he will continue fighting to ensure that “the whole world knows that we failed on October 7.” |
