London no longer one of the five cities with the most millionaires, report says |
The alarming figures show the UK has lost a higher proportion of millionaires than anywhere in the world other than Moscow – a country facing severe international financial restrictions following the war in Ukraine. The figures, revealed in an annual report on global wealth, show’s the capital has lost 11,300 dollar millionaires over the past year. The number includes 18 centimillionaires – an individual with a net worth of $100 million or more – and two billionaires. Conducted by financial advisors Henley & Partners, the study defines wealth as “liquid investable” assets – in basic terms, this refers to cash, bonds and shares. Notably, this figure does not include wealth in the form of property assets. |

Teachers Warn Pupils at Greater Risk Without Police in Schools – But Jewish Schools Show a Different Picture |

Yesodey Hatorah Girls’ School |
A group of 15 headteachers in northeast London have raised serious concerns after the Metropolitan Police announced changes to their Safer Schools Officers programme. In a letter to the Met, the Waltham Forest Secondary Heads group warned that withdrawing these officers could leave vulnerable pupils exposed to gang violence and criminal exploitation. Since 2009, Safer Schools Officers have been stationed in schools to de-escalate peer conflict and prevent youth crime. Teachers now fear the absence of these officers will lead to “more knives” and “more drugs” in classrooms. Sam Jones, chair of the heads group, said schools were “extremely concerned” and had not been consulted about the changes. However, Baruch Hashem, this issue is not seen in the Jewish school system. Across frum schools. There are no knives, no drugs, and no violence. This proves that the Torah-based chinuch (education) system is working. Strong values, discipline, and a sense of community have kept our children safe. In a world of rising crime, the success of the Jewish model is a beacon of hope. |

Asian markets bounce back after Trump pauses higher tariffs for most countries – despite increasing those on China to 125% |
![]() |
Asian markets have reacted positively after Donald Trump paused his so-called “reciprocal” tariffs on most of America’s trading partners for 90 days, despite the US president increasing those on China to 125%. There have been fears of a global recession and stock markets around the world had plummeted after Mr Trump announced his “Liberation Day” tariffs on Wednesday 2 April. However, Japan’s Nikkei share average was up 8.2% by 3.50am BST, while the broader Topix had risen 7.5%. Similarly, the S&P 500 stock index had jumped 9.5% and global markets bounced back following Mr Trump’s announcement on Wednesday that the increased tariffs on nearly all trading partners would now be paused. In a post on his Truth Social platform, Mr Trump said the “90-day pause” was for the “more than 75 countries” who had not retaliated against his tariffs “in any way”. He added that during this period they would still have to pay a “substantially lowered” 10% tariff, which is “effective immediately”. It is lower than the 20% tariff that Mr Trump had set for goods from the European Union, 24% on imports from Japan and 25% on products from South Korea. The UK was already going to face a blanket 10% tariff under the new system. Mr Trump said the increased 125% tariff on imported goods from China was “effective immediately”. He added: “At some point, hopefully in the near future, China will realise that the days of ripping off the USA, and other countries, is no longer sustainable or acceptable.” |

Trump says Israel would ‘be the leader’ of strike on Iran if nuclear talks fail |
![]() |
Israel will “lead” a military strike along with the US against Iran if nuclear talks don’t succeed, US President Donald Trump says. Asked whether he would use military means against Iran if the latter doesn’t agree to a nuclear deal, Trump responds: “If it requires military, we’re going to have military.” “Israel will obviously be very much involved in that — it’ll be the leader of that,” he tells reporters in the Oval Office, in what appears to be the first time he’s explicitly threatened an Iranian strike by Israel, let alone one led by the Jewish state. But he appears to partially walk back the comment in his next breath. “Nobody leads us. We do what we want to do.” |
