HORRIFIC TRAGEDY IN FLATBUSH: Crash Claims Lives of Mother and Two Daughters, Leaves Young Son Fighting for Life |
![]() |
A devastating tragedy struck the Jewish community in Flatbush on Shabbos afternoon, when a mother and her two daughters were fatally struck by a vehicle driven by an individual with a suspended license. The horrific incident occurred just after 1:00 p.m. on Ocean Parkway near Quentin Road, as the family was walking home from shul. According to NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch, the crash unfolded when an Audi, driven by 32-year-old Miriam Yarimi, collided with a Toyota Camry operated by an Uber driver. The Audi then veered out of control, careening into a crosswalk where it struck the 35-year-old mother and her daughters, ages 7 and 5, killing them instantly. The woman’s 4-year-old son was also hit and remains in critical condition, battling for his life at a local hospital. “This was a horrific tragedy caused by someone who shouldn’t have been on the road,” Commissioner Tisch said during a press conference at the scene. Authorities confirmed that Yarimi’s license had been suspended prior to the crash. She has not yet been charged, pending further investigation. |

The huge new UK £2.2 billion tunnel opening next week making life easier for commuters |
![]() |
The long-awaited and much-heralded Silvertown Tunnel is finally due to open on Monday 7 April 2025, linking Silvertown in east London to the Greenwich Peninsula. It will help reduce congestion at Blackwall Tunnel, help make peak time journeys faster and provide an alternative crossing when Blackwall Tunnel is closed for essential maintenance and repairs. Silvertown Tunnel will help enable faster cross-river journeys at peak times (06:00-10:00 northbound and southbound 16:00-19:00, Monday to Friday), between north and south of the River Thames in east London, helping to reduce congestion in and around Blackwall Tunnel. A new dedicated service will let cyclists take their bikes on a shuttle bus through Silvertown Tunnel, helping them cross safely, with clear directions to cycleways from the stops on both sides of the river. TfL board member Keith Richards, a barrister specialising in consumer rights, said: “E-bikes are allowed on the bus that is specifically for cyclists to use the Silvertown tunnel. |

Myanmar earthquake: More than 1,600 killed and 3,408 injured. |
![]() |
The earthquake struck Myanmar and Thailand, and tremors also affected Laos, Vietnam, and Bangladesh |
The number of people killed in Myanmar following a powerful earthquake has risen to 1,644, with 3,408 others injured, according to local reports. A further 139 people are also reportedly missing across the country. It comes as dramatic footage shows the moment a building several stories high collapsed into rubble in the city of Mandalay – near to the earthquake’s epicentre. Survivors in the city dug with their bare hands in a desperate attempt to find trapped people. It struck at around 12.50pm local time (6.20am UK time) on Friday at a shallow depth of six miles (9.6km). The quake’s epicentre was about 10 miles from Mandalay. There were also aftershocks, with one measuring a strong 6.4 magnitude 12 minutes later. Neighbouring Thailand was also affected by the quake, leaving at least seven people dead, eight injured, and 47 missing. Buildings in five of Myanmar’s cities and towns collapsed, along with a railway bridge and a road bridge on the Yangon-Mandalay Expressway, state media reported. A dam also burst. The control tower at Nay Pyi Taw airport, which serves the capital Naypyidaw, collapsed, meaning runways cannot be used. Recalling the moment they left their home in Mandalay, one resident said they “ran out of the house as everything started shaking”. They said they “witnessed a five-storey building collapse in front of [their] eyes”, adding, “everyone in my town is out on the road and no one dares to go back inside buildings”. |

US President Donald Trump threatened Iran on Sunday with bombing and secondary tariffs if Tehran did not come to an agreement with Washington over its nuclear program. In Trump’s first remarks since Iran rejected direct negotiations with Washington last week, he told NBC News that US and Iranian officials were talking, but did not elaborate. “If they don’t make a deal, there will be bombing,” Trump said in a telephone interview. “It will be bombing the likes of which they have never seen before.” “There’s a chance that if they don’t make a deal, that I will do secondary tariffs on them like I did four years ago,” he added. Trump’s language represented a sharpening of his comment a few days earlier that if Tehran refused to negotiate a new nuclear agreement, “bad, bad things are going to happen to Iran.” It was not clear whether Trump was threatening bombing by US planes alone or perhaps in an operation coordinated with Israel. |

A ballistic missile launched at Israel by the Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen was successfully intercepted by air defenses, the military says. The IDF says the missile was shot down before crossing the country’s borders. There are no immediate reports of injuries or damage in the attack. Sirens had sounded across central Israel, in several towns near Jerusalem, and in some West Bank settlements. It marks at least the eighth Houthi attack on Israel since March 18, when the IDF resumed its offensive against Hamas in the Gaza Strip. |

Gazan man murdered by Hamas after joining protests against terror group, family says |

Hamas operatives kidnapped, tortured and executed a 22-year-old Palestinian man who participated in last week’s wave of protests against the terror group, according to his family. Oday Nasser Al Rabay’s body was left in front of his family’s home over the weekend. On Saturday, many dozens were filmed participating in his funeral procession, shouting, “Hamas out!” Hamas has reportedly been threatening Palestinians who participate in the protests against the terror group, but this appears to be the first time that anyone has been killed in connection to them. The protests were held for three straight days last week, but none were held over the weekend, amid assessments in Israel that Hamas was intimidating protesters. The terror group, which has ruled Gaza since 2007, said on Thursday that the protests were against Israel rather than Hamas, despite reports, interviews and footage to the contrary. According to the Kan public broadcaster, partially out of a desire to quash the demonstrations, some senior Hamas members have shown willingness to release a small number of hostages to secure a truce during the Ramadan-ending holiday of Eid al-Fitr, which begins Sunday evening. Hamas wants to crack down on those participating in the protests but cannot do so due to Israel’s resumed operations in Gaza, as the IDF is targeting terror operatives that it spots out in the open, according to the report. Israel resumed operations in Gaza on March 18, scuttling the ceasefire and hostage release deal reached in January. That deal’s 42-day first phase expired on March 2 amid Israel’s refusal to negotiate the second phase. |
