Worrying Arrests in Iran: Jews and Rabbis Detained on Suspicion of Collaboration with Israel
picture hole

In the days following the recent war involving Iran, troubling reports have emerged about the Iranian regime arresting several members of the local Jewish community, including rabbis and community leaders. The detainees are suspected of collaborating with Israel before and during the conflict.

According to opposition groups, arrests took place in cities including Tehran and Shiraz. Many of those detained are long-time residents, sometimes entire families, whose mobile phones and laptops were confiscated as part of the investigation. The regime’s suspicion has raised alarm across the global Jewish community regarding the safety of those held.

Usually, the Jewish community in Iran has a somewhat protected status, and community leaders often publicly show loyalty to the regime. Just recently, the Chief Rabbi of Iran, Rabbi Yehuda Gerami, spoke in praise of the government. But during times of trouble, such as this recent war, the community often faces suspicion and harsh scrutiny.

The Iranian Jewish parliamentary representative also condemned Israeli and U.S. leaders, while acknowledging the hardships the community endured due to airstrikes.

Right now, the entire Jewish world is saying Tehillim and davening for the safety of these precious neshamas, hoping that Hashem will protect them from harm and bring them safely back to their families. May we hear only good news soon.

100,000 Visit the Rebbe’s Ohel on 31st Gimmel Tammuz
picture hole

An estimated 100,000 people from across the globe visited the Ohel of the Lubavitcher Rebbe ZT”L in Queens, New York, to mark the 31st yahrtzeit on Gimmel Tammuz — the largest turnout ever recorded, according to officials from the Ohel Chabad-Lubavitch Center.

The crowds began arriving before Shabbos and continued throughout Motzei Shabbos and Sunday, with many waiting patiently to deliver handwritten panim and daven at the Rebbe’s tziyun, seeking brachos and chizuk from his Torah and legacy.

In addition to those physically present, hundreds of thousands of kvitlach and petitions were sent in from around the world to be placed at the Ohel — the most visited Jewish holy site in North America.

Despite intense summer heat, the event was well-organized: men and women’s lines moved efficiently, with NYPD providing security, and volunteers distributing water, fans, Tehillim, and Maaneh Lashon booklets to help visitors cope with the conditions.

Palestine Action Plots New Attacks Ahead of Terror Ban
picture hole

Just days before it is set to be outlawed as a terrorist organisation, Palestine Action has launched a fresh recruitment drive and revealed plans to target RAF bases and defence sites across the UK.

In a covert online meeting attended by The Telegraph, the group’s leaders instructed recruits—ranging from nursery teachers to surgeons—to form secret cells and prepare for “covert action.” Attendees were shown a list of targets, including RAF Cranwell, RAF Barkston Heath, and RAF Valley, and were encouraged to “hit everything with a sledgehammer.”

The session outlined legal risks and advised recruits on how to obtain free legal aid. Members were told not to expect legal fees to be covered but would receive “support” from an internal arrest group. Some older recruits reportedly struggled with the technical instructions to join encrypted messaging apps.

The group’s tactics have shifted from public stunts to secret raids intended to avoid arrest. The Ministry of Defence confirmed a review of base security is ongoing.

With 19 activists already in prison, and leadership determined to continue despite proscription, authorities are intensifying efforts to prevent further disruption to Britain’s military infrastructure.

Middle-Class Brits Flee to Europe Amid Tax Hikes
picture hole

Middle-class families are increasingly leaving the UK for southern Europe in response to Labour’s tax policies, with a sharp rise in applications for so-called “golden visas” in countries like Greece and Portugal. These schemes offer residency — and eventually EU citizenship — in exchange for property investments as low as €250,000.

New figures show a 46.6% rise in UK applications for Greece’s golden visa since Labour’s election, while Portugal saw a 66.2% increase. Experts say many applicants are not ultra-wealthy, but rather professionals and families seeking a better quality of life, mobility, and financial stability.

Chancellor Rachel Reeves is reportedly planning further tax rises this autumn to plug budget gaps, following her scrapping of non-dom status and tightening of inheritance tax rules. Critics warn this is driving high earners and entrepreneurs abroad.

Spain also saw a surge in British applications before shutting its scheme in April, and the UAE is now attracting Brits with its low cost of living.

A Treasury spokesperson defended the UK’s tax system as “fair and progressive,” but opposition parties warn of an exodus that could ultimately reduce tax revenue and worsen the UK’s fiscal outlook. Reform UK and the Tories are both proposing new visa schemes to reverse the trend.

BBC Under Fire for Broadcasting ‘Death to IDF’ Chant at Glastonbury

The BBC has come under sharp criticism after airing a live Glastonbury performance in which rap duo Bob Vylan led chants of “Death to the IDF.” The Culture Secretary, Lisa Nandy, reprimanded the corporation and demanded an explanation from Director-General Tim Davie, questioning its vetting process ahead of the broadcast.

During the set, performed shortly before pro-Palestinian rappers Kneecap took the stage, the duo repeatedly incited the crowd with anti-Israel chants. The BBC later said it would not rebroadcast the performance on iPlayer and acknowledged the comments were “deeply offensive.”

The performance provoked outrage from Jewish groups, political figures, and former BBC staff, who condemned the broadcast as incitement. The Israeli Embassy in London described the rhetoric as “hateful,” warning it could normalize extremist views. Police are currently reviewing footage to determine whether criminal offences were committed.

Kneecap, who followed Bob Vylan, led chants against Keir Starmer and threatened to “start a riot” over an upcoming court case linked to a terror charge. Their performance was not shown live.

The incident has intensified scrutiny of the BBC and Glastonbury Festival’s platforming of controversial acts, as calls grow for accountability and a firmer stance against hate speech in the cultural sphere.

Let Bibi go,’ ‘Make the deal in Gaza’: Trump renews Israel demands in social media posts
picture hole

Three days after first criticising the legal proceedings against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, former U.S. President Donald Trump has intensified his remarks — warning that the trial could jeopardise sensitive negotiations over Israeli hostages.

“It is terrible what they are doing in Israel to Bibi Netanyahu,” Trump posted late Saturday on his social media platform, Truth Social.

Calling Netanyahu a “War Hero” and praising his past cooperation with the United States to counter Iran’s nuclear threat, Trump claimed the charges against the prime minister were undermining critical diplomatic efforts. “Importantly, he is right now in the process of negotiating a Deal with Hamas, which will include getting the Hostages back,” he wrote. “This travesty of ‘Justice’ will interfere with both Iran and Hamas negotiations.”

Trump also referenced the scale of U.S. financial support to Israel, concluding with a forceful statement: “We are not going to stand for this. We just had a Great Victory with Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu at the helm — And this greatly tarnishes our Victory. LET BIBI GO, HE’S GOT A BIG JOB TO DO!”

IDF soldier killed in combat in northern Gaza
picture hole

An Israel Defense Forces soldier was killed during fighting in the northern Gaza Strip on Sunday, the military announced.

The slain soldier was named as Sgt. Yisrael Natan Rosenfeld, 20, of the 601st Combat Engineering Battalion, from Ra’anana.

According to an initial IDF probe, Rosenfeld was killed by an explosive device during operations in the Kafr Jabalia area.

The 20th soldier to be killed in fighting since the start of the month, Rosenfeld moved to Israel from London with his family 11 years ago. He is survived by his parents and three siblings.

Rosenfeld’s death brought Israel’s toll in the ground offensive against Hamas in Gaza and in military operations along the border with the Strip to 441.
