| UK weather: Yellow heat health alerts issued for most of England, as forecast reveals where it will hit 33C |
|
Yellow heat health alerts have been issued for most of England – with temperatures forecast to hit highs of 33C (91F) this weekend. Only the North East and North West are exempt from the UK Health Security Agency’s latest warnings for England, which comes into force at 12pm on Wednesday and expires at 6pm on Sunday. The alert indicates that people with pre-existing health conditions, and those aged over 65, could be at higher risk. Forecasters say the East of England is likely to see the highest temperatures, which wouldn’t be far off the June record of 35.6C (90F) set in 1976. There is currently a 15% chance of a new record being set. It could reach the low 30s across the rest of England and Wales, and the mid-to-high 20s in Scotland and Northern Ireland. According to the Met Office, it will get progressively warmer as the week progresses – with the heat peaking on Sunday. Deputy chief meteorologist Dan Holley said thundery showers may be possible heading into Saturday morning, with “tropical nights” a possibility as parts of the UK approach heatwave territory. |

| The one ‘bunker buster’ bomb that could be used to hit Iran’s secretive Fordow enrichment plant |
![]() |
|
Iran’s secretive Fordow uranium enrichment plant is buried deep beneath a mountain, its vital centrifuges protected by tons upon tons of rock. Israel has made no secret of its wish to destroy Iran’s nuclear programme, but the only bomb believed to be powerful enough to penetrate the Fordow facility is an American “bunker buster” bomb that the Israelis do not have – yet. |

| Russian missile and drone attack on Kyiv kills at least 14 |
![]() |
|
Russia launched a sustained missile and drone attack on Kyiv in the early hours of Tuesday, killing at least 14 people and wounding 55 in what the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, called “one of the most horrific attacks” on the Ukrainian capital since the full-scale war began in spring 2022. The toll seemed likely to rise as several sites across the capital were hit. At a nine-storey Soviet-era apartment block in the west of Kyiv, an apparent direct missile hit had led to part of the building collapsing, leaving a gaping hole and a pile of rubble in the middle of the block. Thirty apartments were destroyed in the strike, said the mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, surveying the scene. “There could be people under the rubble, and we can’t exclude that the number of dead may rise,” he said. It was not clear how many people had been inside the building when the missile hit. |

| Netanyahu: Avner’s Cancelled Wedding Was Real – But Other Events Were Carefully Orchestrated to Fool Iran |
|
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has responded to growing speculation that his son Avner’s cancelled wedding was a decoy ahead of Israel’s surprise strike on Iran. Speaking to Channel 14, he said: “Avner and his fiancée were completely surprised. I couldn’t tell them — they had no idea.” The wedding, scheduled for Ronit Farm, was called off just hours before “Operation Rising Lion” began — sparking rumours that it was a diversion. Netanyahu clarified that while the cancellation was genuine, other events were indeed staged as part of an elaborate misinformation campaign. Among these: official announcements suggested that Netanyahu and his wife were preparing for a weekend break in the north; strategic leaks indicated political chaos over the draft law and possible Knesset dissolution; and the Prime Minister’s spokesman circulated misleading updates to lull the public — and Iran — into believing nothing dramatic was imminent. A senior official said only a tiny inner circle knew the truth. “The goal was total surprise — even if it meant misleading the entire country.” |

| Control of the Skies: Israel Achieves in 48 Hours What Russia Couldn’t in 3.5 Years |
![]() |
|
Israel has reportedly gained aerial superiority over western Iran, including Tehran, within just 48 hours of launching Operation Rising Lion. This stands in stark contrast to Russia, which has been unable to gain control of Ukrainian skies after three and a half years of war. A report in The Wall Street Journal explained why Israel succeeded where Russia failed. Experts point to Israel’s advanced air force culture, superior pilot training, intelligence integration, and cyber warfare capabilities. In the words of retired British Air Marshal Edward Stringer: “All the Russians have is pilots… Israel combines tech, brains and execution.” Meanwhile, Russia has remained stuck in a war of attrition, unable to overcome Ukraine’s sophisticated and well-integrated air defense network. Iran, by contrast, had heavily underinvested in air defense, relying instead on deterrence through missile forces and proxies like Hezbollah—who themselves suffered devastating blows in 2024. Israel’s early success was aided by Mossad’s precision intelligence, including the covert placement of drones inside Iran ahead of the campaign. Still, amid the military achievements, Israel’s leaders and the public remain grounded in faith. — “If Hashem will not guard the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.” This verse serves as a reminder that ultimate security comes not from military might, but from Divine protection. |

| Trump demands Iran’s ‘unconditional surrender,’ says US won’t kill Khamenei ‘for now’ |
![]() |
|
US President Donald Trump declared Tuesday that he is seeking Iran’s “UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER” and that Washington is only holding off on assassinating Islamic Republic Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei “for now.” Trump’s comments, delivered via social media, suggested a more aggressive stance toward Iran, as he weighs whether to deepen US involvement in the conflict. “We know exactly where the so-called ‘Supreme Leader’ is hiding. He is an easy target, but is safe there — We are not going to take him out (kill!), at least not for now,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. |

| German leader says Israel ‘doing our dirty work’ with attacks on Iran |
![]() |
|
Chancellor Merz praised Israel’s offensive against Iran at a meeting of the G7 in Canada, which Donald Trump left abruptly on Tuesday after warning the 10 million inhabitants of its capital Tehran to evacuate “immediately”. In an interview with German broadcaster ZDF, Merz said: “This is the dirty work that Israel is doing for all of us. “We are also victims of this regime. This mullah regime has brought death and destruction to the world. “I can only say: the greatest respect for the fact that the Israeli army and the Israeli leadership had the courage to do this.” The German leader predicted that the attacks on Iran, which have killed more than 200 people since Israel launched its onslaught on Friday, could result in the country’s government collapsing. He said: “I assume that the attacks of the last few days have already weakened the mullah regime considerably and that it is unlikely to return to its former strength, making the future of the country uncertain.” |

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu just wrapped up a phone call with US President Donald Trump, an Israeli official says. Netanyahu said yesterday that he has spoken with Trump almost every day since the Israel-Iran conflict broke out last week. Comments from Trump over the past day have raised speculation that the US could join Israel in striking Iran. |

| Iran launching smaller salvos of missiles due to Israel diminishing its capabilities — IDF |
![]() |
|
Iran has been launching smaller salvos of missiles at Israel over the past two days because its capabilities have been degraded by Israeli strikes, the IDF believes. According to IDF assessments, Iran is not trying to conserve missiles for a longer war, but rather, they are struggling to coordinate larger attacks. The majority of Iran’s top military leadership has been eliminated in strikes, and some 40% of its ballistic missile launchers have been destroyed, according to the IDF. The IDF has also said it has been “hunting down” missile launchers and thwarting the attacks. Iran was launching dozens of missiles at a time in the first days of the conflict, but in the past day has been launching only a handful at a time. However, those attacks have been more frequent. Because of the smaller missile attacks, the Home Front Command removed its pre-launch alert, which instructed civilians in areas potentially under threat from Iranian ballistic missiles to be prepared to head to bomb shelters. |
