JTrade Exhibition Unshaken by Brief Pro-Palestinian Disruption
picture hole

This year’s JTrade Exhibition at the ExCeL Centre was another resounding success for the Jewish business community. The annual event drew a wide range of exhibitors and visitors from across the UK and beyond, offering valuable networking opportunities and displaying innovation across multiple industries.

In an isolated incident, a small group of pro-Palestinian protesters entered the venue and began shouting slogans such as “Free Palestine.” According to event organisers, the disruption was brief and largely ignored by attendees. The individuals left shortly after entering, and no incidents or confrontations were reported.

From tech start-ups and finance firms to construction, the exhibition hall buzzed with activity throughout the day. Organisers hailed the event as a major success, highlighting the strength and resilience of the community.

JTrade continues to serve as a unique platform for frum business owners and professionals to connect, collaborate, and grow — undeterred by distractions or demonstrations.

Yeshiva Students Face U.S. Visa Denials Amid Tightening Rules
picture hole

A wave of U.S. visa denials for yeshiva bochurim has sparked concern across Jewish communities. Many applicants have had their F-1 student visa requests rejected, reportedly due to difficulty explaining their non-degree Torah studies within the academic criteria expected by U.S. immigration officials.

The issue comes as the U.S. State Department has temporarily halted new student visa appointments and plans to expand social media vetting for all applicants. While previously scheduled interviews will still take place, the pause adds further uncertainty.

Ironically, most yeshiva bochurim do not use social media at all—leaving little digital trail, which some fear could raise suspicions or complicate vetting.

The shift is part of a broader effort by the Trump administration to tighten oversight of foreign students amid concerns over campus protests and antisemitism.

Behind the scenes, askanim in the U.S. are working with legal experts and immigration consultants to assess the situation and advocate for a resolution that protects legitimate yeshiva students. They are advising families and institutions to ensure applications are fully compliant and to prepare students carefully for interviews.

For now, the path to U.S. yeshivos remains uncertain, as policy changes continue to unfold.

Thames Water fined £122.7m in biggest ever penalty

Thames Water has been fined £122.7m for breaching rules over sewage spills and shareholder payouts.

The penalty is the biggest ever issued by the water industry regulator Ofwat, which said the company had “let down its customers and failed to protect the environment”.

The watchdog confirmed the fines would be paid by the company and its investors, and not by customers who were hit with water bill increases last month.

Thames Water said the company took its “responsibility towards the environment very seriously”, and added it was continuing its search for new investment as it struggles under a £20bn debt pile.

Ryanair cancels all Tel Aviv flights until August
picture hole

Irish low-cost airline Ryanair has announced that it has extended its cancellation of all Israel flights until July 31, inclusive.

Last week Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary said, “I think we are beginning to lose patience with Israel and flights to Tel Aviv. If they’re going to keep being disrupted by these security disruptions, frankly, we’d be better off sending those aircraft somewhere else in Europe, where at least we can sell seats without these repeated disruptions.” O’Leary was speaking at the investors’ conference after publication of the airline’s quarterly financial results.

Ryanair, which operates in 37 countries, is the biggest airline in Europe in terms of the number of passengers it carries.

Ryanair’s importance to Israel is reflected in two main ways: Firstly, it operates routes to more than 20 destinations in 12 different countries. On some of these routes, it is the only airline offering direct flights.

Witkoff says US to issue new Gaza terms, has ‘very good feelings’ on reaching hostage deal
picture hole

US special envoy to the Mideast Steve Witkoff said Wednesday that he has “very good feelings” about the chances for reaching a temporary ceasefire and hostage deal that could lead to a long-term resolution to the conflict in Gaza.

“We’re on the precipice of sending out a new term sheet that hopefully will be delivered later today,” Witkoff told reporters in the Oval Office. “The president is going to review it.”

“I have some very good feelings about getting to… a temporary ceasefire and a long-term, peaceful resolution of that conflict,” Witkoff said.

Earlier on Wednesday, Hamas said it had reached an agreement with Witkoff on a “general framework” for a ceasefire deal and now awaited a “final response.”

The group claimed that the framework it had approved would secure a “permanent ceasefire,” the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, the flow of humanitarian aid, and a committee of independent Palestinian technocrats assuming governing control over the Strip instead of Hamas.

Footage from Gaza shows hundreds of people breaking into warehouse, stealing flour

Footage circulating on social media shows hundreds of Gazans breaking into a large warehouse storing bags of flour and other humanitarian supplies earlier today, and looting the site.

According to reports, the warehouse is situated along Salah al-Din Road, which runs through the Strip, in the Al-Maghazi area of central Gaza.

One Telegram channel critical of Hamas claims that the warehouses belong to the terror group, but this has not been independently confirmed.

Both the Hamas-run local government in Gaza and UNRWA later put out a statement claiming that the warehouse belonged to the UN’s World Food Program, and not Hamas.
