UK on verge of deal with EU to let Britons use European passport e-gates

British holidaymakers could face shorter airport queues this summer, with negotiators on the verge of striking an agreement for UK passport holders to use e-gates across Europe.

Downing Street said on Saturday that it was poised to strike a deal with the EU that would improve things for Britons facing “queues on holiday”.

The Guardian understands officials on both sides are in talks about allowing British travellers to use e-gates reserved for people from the EU or European Economic Area when arriving at airports in Europe, ending the current two-queue system.

The issue forms part of negotiations before the highly anticipated UK-EU summit in London on Monday, which will focus on a security and defence pact.

Trump says he’s ‘saddened’ by Biden’s cancer diagnosis

US President Donald Trump says he is “saddened” by the news that his predecessor and political rival Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer.

“Melania and I are saddened to hear about Joe Biden’s recent medical diagnosis. We extend our warmest and best wishes to Jill and the family, and we wish Joe a fast and successful recovery,” Trump, who has repeatedly derided Biden for his cognitive abilities and aged demeanor, says on his Truth Social platform.

Reports: Body Of Mohamed Sinwar Found In Tunnel; 3rd Brother, Zakaria Sinwar, Killed In Separate Strike

The bodies of Hamas Gaza Chief Muhammad Sinwar and 10 other high-ranking Hamas terorrists were found in the Khan Younis area of Gaza, according to Arab media reports Sunday.

Sinwar took over the position of his brother, Yahya, who was eliminated last year by the IDF.

Muhammad, according to Israeli intelligence, was stubbornly holding back ceasefire and hostage release negotiations. He and other top terrorists were targeted recently in an airstrike on a hospital, cowardly used by Hamas as a command center.

However, Channel 12’s Amit Segal says that Israeli sources are not aware of the discovery and have not confirmed the death of Sinwar or the other terrorists.

Among the top terrorists who were identified by Arab media reports was Rafah Brigade commander Muhammad Shabana.

IDF says it has begun ‘broad’ ground operations as it expands new Gaza offensive

IDF spokesman, Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin, in a press statement from the Gaza border, said five divisions are now operating inside the Strip.
The Israel Defense Force announced Sunday that it has begun “broad” ground operations in several areas of the Gaza Strip, as part of the opening phase of a new major offensive. Palestinian officials reported more than 100 people killed over the past 24 hours in Israeli strikes.

“Over the past day, IDF troops in the Southern Command, both the standing army and reserves, began a broad ground operation throughout the northern and southern Gaza Strip, as part of the start of Operation Gideon’s Chariots,” the military said in a statement.

Visiting Gaza on Sunday, IDF Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Eyal Zamir said that the military would press forward with the offensive, but at the same time allow flexibility in order not to torpedo talks for a hostage deal that are ongoing in Qatar.

“The directive is clear: Defeat the enemy and destroy its infrastructure wherever we operate,” Zamir said, adding that “the IDF will allow flexibility for the political echelon to advance any hostage deal.”

“A hostage deal — this is not a halt; it is an achievement,” Zamir stressed. “We are working toward it.”

Netanyahu approves immediate resumption of humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has approved the immediate resumption of humanitarian aid into Gaza during a security cabinet meeting earlier this evening.

In a statement confirming the decision, the Prime Minister’s Office says that it is being done “at the recommendation of the IDF and due to the operational need to enable the expansion of intense fighting to defeat Hamas.”

He says Israel “will allow the entry of a basic quantity of food for the population in order to prevent the development of a hunger crisis in the Gaza Strip,” as such a crisis “would endanger the continued operation to defeat Hamas.”

“Israel will act to deny Hamas the ability to seize control of the distribution of humanitarian aid in order to ensure that the aid does not reach Hamas terrorists,” he concludes.

The move comes amid increasing international pressure for Israel to end its months-long blockade on aid deliveries to the Gaza Strip and thus prevent a deepening humanitarian crisis.

Israel has thus far refused to do so, saying Hamas has been stealing the aid to benefit its own members, and that it won’t resume deliveries until a new mechanism has been put in place to circumvent Hamas
