Notify Universal Credit for Trips Exceeding 4 Weeks Dear Readers Last week, this was brought to my attention, as advertised in the Weekly View by Mrs. Erblich: When traveling abroad, it is important to inform Universal Credit (UC), especially if the trip lasts longer than 4 weeks. If the trip exceeds 4 weeks, you are not entitled to UC for that period (with some exceptions). Although UC has access to border control information regarding people leaving and entering the country, it is still essential to notify them to avoid any issues, particularly for trips exceeding 4 weeks. UK hot weather maps show anticyclone to bring final summer sunshine before Storm Boris |
An anticyclone positioned directly over Britain is set to bring warm, settled weather before making way for the remnants of Storm Boris, which has caused severe flooding in central Europe. The high-pressure system moving across the British Isles will ensure dry and warm conditions early in the week. However, forecasters predict that the anticyclone will shift northward, allowing showers from Storm Boris to impact southern England and Wales by midweek and into the weekend. |

Tragic Car Crash Claims Lives Of 3 Members Of Jewish Family On Garden State Parkway |
A tragic accident late Saturday night claimed the lives of three members of a Jewish family from Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey. The crash occurred just before midnight on the northbound side of the Garden State Parkway in Woodbridge Township, resulting in the deaths of David Dryerman, 54, his wife, Michele Dryerman, 54, and their 17-year-old daughter. New Jersey State Police reported that David Dryerman was driving a Tesla when the vehicle veered off the road, hitting a sign, guardrail, and concrete bridge support. All three occupants of the car were pronounced dead at the scene. In the wake of the tragedy, Rabbi Dov Drizin, who leads Valley Chabad in Woodcliff Lake, worked closely with authorities to ensure proper kavod hameis. Approximately 150 members of the Pascack Hills High School and Valley Chabad communities came together on Sunday evening for a candle lighting ceremony to honor the memory of David, Michele, and Brooke. The gathering also served as a moment to extend love and support to their surviving son, Max. “We are all shocked and in such pain today,” Rabbi Yosef Orenstein said at the gathering. “A terrible accident took beloved parents, David and Michele, and their daughter Brooke, a dear friend to many of our teens. Baruch Dayan HaEmes. We gather to light a candle, pray, share memories, and do a mitzvah in memory of Brooke and her dear parents. Whether you knew the family or not, we are all hurting.” Woodcliff Lake Mayor Carlos Rendo expressed his condolences, saying in a statement on Facebook, “I just received word of this terrible tragedy. I have ordered that our flags be lowered. I am in shock. Please keep the family in your prayers.” The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and officials are working to determine what led to the tragic accident. |

Hamas Leader Sinwar Congratulates Houthis for Missile Attack on Israel |
In a statement published on Monday, Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar commended the Iranian-backed Houthis in Yemen for their recent missile attack on Israel. The congratulatory letter, posted on the Hamas website, celebrated the Houthis’ missile strike, which targeted central Israel on Sunday. The attack set off sirens across a wide area, from east of Tel Aviv to Modiin. The Houthis, who control northern Yemen, fired a ballistic missile that was intercepted by an Israeli defense missile. However, the missile was not entirely destroyed, breaking apart in midair and causing minor damage from falling debris, according to an Israeli Air Force report. Despite the Israeli probe concluding that the missile was not hypersonic, as the Houthis had claimed, the Yemeni group doubled down on their assertion. On Monday, they released a nearly two-minute video, claiming it documented the missile launch, which they called “Palestine 2.” The Houthis have previously launched over 220 missiles and drones toward Israel, most of which were intercepted or missed their targets. In his letter, Sinwar praised the Houthis’ success, writing to their leader Abdel-Malek al-Houthi, “Congratulations on your success in reaching the depth of the enemy entity.” Sinwar also reassured his counterpart about Hamas’ resilience in its ongoing conflict with Israel, saying, “I can assure you the resistance is fine. We have prepared ourselves to fight a long battle of attrition.” He dismissed reports suggesting Hamas was struggling, labeling them psychological warfare. In his letter, Sinwar also invoked the broader regional alliance against Israel, highlighting the involvement of other Iranian-backed groups, including Hezbollah. “Our efforts, along with the resistance in Yemen, Lebanon, and Iraq, will defeat the enemy,” Sinwar declared, pointing to a wider axis of Iranian proxies across the Middle East. |

Blinken to travel to Egypt Tuesday to discuss ceasefire-hostage deal efforts |
Secretary of State Antony Blinken will travel to Egypt on Tuesday to discuss hostage release-ceasefire deal efforts with Egyptian officials, the State Department says Monday. Blinken “will meet with Egyptian officials to discuss ongoing efforts to reach a ceasefire in Gaza that secures the release of all hostages, alleviates the suffering of the Palestinian people, and helps establish broader regional security,” spokesman Matthew Miller says in a statement. Along with Qatar, the US and Egypt have been leading indirect negotiations for the release of the hostages and a halt in the Gaza fighting.
