Biden ‘not ruling out’ allowing Ukraine to fire into Russia |
President Joe Biden is “not ruling out” allowing Ukraine to fire missiles deep into Russian territory, the US secretary of state has told Sky News. Antony Blinken made the comment after he told a news conference in London that Iran had provided Moscow with short-range missiles and Vladimir Putin’s forces would “likely use them within weeks in Ukraine”. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has called on the US and other Western allies to allow Ukraine to use long-range missiles to hit targets in Russia to intensify pressure on Moscow to end the war. In a sit-down interview with Yalda Hakim for her Sky News show The World, Mr Blinken was asked whether the US president might consider allowing such a move as the conflict rages on. Mr Blinken said the US had made sure Ukraine had “what it needed, when it needed it, to be effective in repelling the Russian aggression” since Moscow’s launch of its February 2022 invasion. But he added that Washington also had to consider other factors, such as whether Ukraine’s forces can use the “sophisticated systems” Western allies are providing and whether they can maintain them. He continued: “All of those things have to go into these decisions. But what I can tell you is, we’ve adapted and adjusted every step along the way, and we’ll continue – so not ruling out at this stage. |

Illegal Palestinian Residents Caught In Heart Of Chareidi Neighborhood |
Police officers from the Lev HaBira station in Jerusalem were called to a street in Mea Shearim on Monday evening due to concerns that there were illegal residents in the area. The officers who arrived at the scene conducted searches in a building under renovation, and after hearing noises from inside, they entered and found two Palestinians from Yehudah and Shomron, aged 19 and 20, lying on the roof of the apartment. The two were arrested by the officers. During the searches conducted by the officers, using ladders to navigate between the levels of the house, they identified another suspect – a 48-year-old Palestinian Authority resident, who was also arrested. This incident joins another arrest that took place a few hours earlier in the same neighborhood. Shortly after 4:00 PM, a report was received about a suspect and officers were dispatched to the scene, where they spotted a suspect walking down the street. Despite claiming to be a resident of East Jerusalem and 16 years old, a thorough investigation revealed that he was an 18-year-old illegal resident of Al-Eizariya, a town in the Palestinian Authority. The officers searched his belongings and found ammunition. The suspect was arrested and taken for questioning at the police station. |
