| Mamdani Oct. 7 statement accuses Israel of ‘ongoing genocide’ and ‘apartheid’ |

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani releases a statement marking three years since the October 7 massacre in Israel. Mamdani mourns those killed and condemns Hamas, but the bulk of the statement is focused on Israel, accusing the Jewish state of genocide and apartheid. “This day is profoundly painful for so many New Yorkers. It marks three years since the horrific war crimes of October 7. On that day, Hamas killed more than 1,100 Israelis and abducted 251 others. We grieve alongside our many friends and neighbors who still carry that unthinkable loss,” Mamdani says. “The suffering did not begin nor end that day. It instead continued through the Israeli government’s devastating, ongoing genocide in Gaza, in which it has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians — including more than 21,000 children,” he continues. “Even since the so-called ceasefire, more than 1,400 Palestinians have been killed. That suffering has intensified with every Israeli bomb dropped on ambulances waiting outside hospitals, every drone strike targeting a residential building or journalist, and every shipment of food aid turned away at a border crossing. Many New Yorkers are reckoning with this unbearable grief, and we mourn alongside them—all while knowing that our tax dollars fund these war crimes,” Mamdani adds. “Three years later, we must refuse to accept a world in which occupation and apartheid continue, where war crimes are met with impunity, and our federal government continues its complicity with every arms shipment. To honor the dead, we must fight for a world in which every person can live with freedom, safety, and dignity,” the full statement says. Israeli authorities strongly deny that genocide has taken place in the Gaza Strip, while the IDF says it only targets terror operatives and seeks to minimize civilian casualties, and says it facilitates the entry of food aid entering the Strip. |

| Military Police Raids Fail to Arrest Bnei Yeshivah |
Military Police carried out a series of overnight raids in Dimona and Bat Yam in attempts to arrest bnei yeshivah classified as draft evaders, but were forced to leave without making the arrests.Shortly after 1 a.m., Military Police arrived at a home in Dimona seeking to arrest a yeshivah bachur. After failing to locate him, the forces proceeded to another address in the city, where they attempted to arrest 2 brothers, both bnei yeshivah. The “Black Alert” system was activated, and dozens of Gerrer Chassidim hurried to the scene. The attempted arrests were unsuccessful, and after the forces withdrew, those gathered broke into spirited dancing. Several hours later, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Military Police arrived at the Bat Yam home of a bachur learning in Yeshivas Hameyasher, headed by Harav Benayahu Shmueli. According to the report, this was the third attempt to arrest the same bachur. Once again, the alert system was activated, bringing dozens to the scene. Confrontations broke out between protesters and the forces, which remained in the area for approximately an hour before leaving without carrying out the arrest. Dancing followed their departure. The raids come amid renewed enforcement against bnei yeshivah. Two yeshivah bachurim arrested earlier this week were each sentenced to 20 days in military prison. Harav Azriel Auerbach has called for major demonstrations Thursday afternoon in Yerushalayim and the Gush Dan area in protest of the arrests of bnei yeshivah and kollel yungeleit. |

| Trump says he spoke with Netanyahu, ‘other side’ is paying ‘very big price’ for Oct. 7 |

US President Donald Trump tells reporters he spoke with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on the third anniversary of the Hamas-led October 7 massacre, offering his well wishes to the premier and saying those responsible for the attack are “paying a very big price.” “I spoke with Bibi Netanyahu, and I wished him well, and I wished the people of Israel well. That was a horrible day, a horrible tragedy – horrible,” Trump tells reporters, using the premier’s nickname. “And the other side is paying a very big price for what they did on October 7, believe me,” he adds, apparently referring to the subsequent war against Hamas in Gaza. |

| Hezbollah gets $200 million from Iran to help displaced Lebanese |
![]() |
|
Hezbollah has received $200 million from Iran to help Lebanese people displaced by this year’s war with Israel, say two people with direct knowledge of the transfer, the first significant aid from the group to supporters who bore the brunt of the conflict. Hezbollah received the cash last month despite a tightening US economic chokehold on Iran and increasing difficulties in getting funds to Tehran’s Lebanese ally, the people say. Intermediaries who moved the money charged a 20% fee, reflecting the risks of dealing with the group, they say. One said this was four times the normal fee. Asked for comment, a Hezbollah official says an amount has been secured and a plan for distributing it will be announced in the coming days, without elaborating on the source of the funds. The Iranian foreign ministry, Iran’s permanent mission in Geneva, the US Treasury and the Lebanese government do not immediately respond to requests for comment. Iran has maintained financial support to Hezbollah through years of crippling US sanctions: it transferred $1 billion to the group in the first 10 months of 2025, according to the US Treasury Department. Tehran has never acknowledged financing Hezbollah. Iran’s policy of funding regional proxies has stirred domestic protester anger against the clerical rulers in the past and could prove particularly sensitive at a time of worsening hardship in Iran. |

| Visiting Israel for Oct. 7 anniversary, French FM rejects ‘poison’ of antisemitism |

France’s Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot says his country rejects the “poison” of antisemitism, as he attends commemorations in Israel marking the third anniversary of Hamas’s October 7, 2023 attack. “As our societies are confronted with the resurgence of uninhibited antisemitism, we will not allow this poison to spread within the Republic,” Barrot says at the site of the Nova music festival massacre in southern Israel. “Everything in France’s soul rejects antisemitism and hatred of others,” Barrot adds. The minister says the October 7 attack “wounded the Israeli people and all Jews to the core and left a trauma that must never be downplayed.” “On that day, Hamas sought to kill the very possibility of coexistence; we will tirelessly continue to work for a just and lasting peace between Israelis and Palestinians,” he adds. Barrot also visits Tel Aviv, as well as Kibbutz Be’eri and Nir Oz, near the Gaza Strip. He is, however, not scheduled to meet with any Israelis officials during his trips. |
