Ukraine says Russian ballistic missile attack largest yet

Kyiv’s acting foreign minister says Russia struck Ukraine with the largest number of ballistic missiles in a single attack since the start of its full-scale war over four years ago.

“Russia unleashed the largest number of ballistic missiles since the start of the war — around four dozen — in a brutal terrorist attack on the Ukrainian capital, killing and injuring people,” Andrii Sybiha writes.

“We urge appropriate and strong responses. We need devastating pressure on Moscow to end this terror,” he adds.

Russia launched 41 missiles and 125 attack drones across Ukraine overnight, according to the Ukrainian air force. President Volodymyr Zelensky said most of the missiles had targeted the capital.

One person was killed and 16 were wounded in the overnight attack, local authorities said.

The attack began at around 1:30 a.m. local time and continued for several hours, with explosions echoing across the capital.

Thousands of Gerer chassidim are expected to gather on Monday evening outside Israel’s Military Prison 10 for a major prayer rally and protest following the imprisonment of a bochur from the Sfas Emes yeshiva. The gathering, scheduled for 9:30 p.m., will be led by the Gerrer Rebbe and will focus on expressing concern over the continued imprisonment of bnei Torah.

The rally follows the arrest of Yisroel Reuven Fine, a Talmud at the Sfas Emes yeshiva, who was sentenced to 20 days in military prison after being classified by the army as absent without authorisation. According to those close to the family, he had appeared repeatedly at army recruitment offices in an effort to regularise his status, but administrative complications reportedly led to his detention.

The evening will begin with Maariv, led by Motty Babchik, who is in his year of mourning for his father, followed by words of encouragement from Harav Meir Falkser, Rosh Yeshivah of Chiddushei HaRim.

In a recorded message distributed throughout the chassidus, organiser R’ Itche Meir Tauman urged the tzibbur to attend the gathering while stressing that it must remain entirely peaceful. Participants were instructed to obey marshals at all times, avoid any confrontation, respect nearby homes and property, and disperse quietly when the rally concludes. Attendees were also encouraged to bring Tehillim and water.

The demonstration will be the second organised by Gur outside Military Prison 10 in recent weeks. It follows a similar mass gathering held by the Sanz chassidus last week, reflecting continuing concern within parts of the tzibbur over the imprisonment of yeshiva students.

In rare interview with Israeli TV, former Saudi general urges ‘serious consequences’ for Iran’s ‘barbaric’ actions

In a rare engagement with Israeli media, a former Saudi general condemns Iran’s strikes across the region in recent weeks, telling Channel 12 that they could not be allowed to pass without “extremely serious consequences.”

“What Iran is doing in the region is extremely dangerous. It is directed against the region itself,” says Abdullah bin Ghanem Al-Qahtani, who served as a major general in the Royal Saudi Air Force and is now a security and strategic affairs analyst.

“This is a grave threat that cannot be met with silence. It simply cannot be allowed to pass without extremely serious consequences, given that Iran is targeting virtually everything in the region,” Al-Qahtani says in Arabic, adding that “it is clear that the Iranian revolutionary regime does not want to fall unless it is certain that everyone else has been destroyed first — before it is itself destroyed… or overthrown.”

Public criticism of Tehran from Saudi officials is not unusual, but interviews with Israeli media by prominent Saudi figures remain rare, as diplomatic tensions, especially over the Palestinian issue, continue to complicate US efforts at normalization between Riyadh and Jerusalem.

Al-Qahtani did not call explicitly for further escalation by the US or Israel, but said Israel “must resolve the Palestinian issue,” and that the US “must help everyone in this region ensure that terrorism does not return, and that neither Iran nor anyone else has another pretext to exploit.”

“The sensible people in Israel must resolve the outstanding problems between Israel and the Arab states,” he says.

An Israeli security source cited by the Saudi al-Hadath outlet says Iranian leader Mojtaba Khamenei “is not in Iran.”

Khamenei, who was appointed supreme leader shortly after his father was killed in US-Israeli strikes on February 28 and has only communicated via written statements since, has had no public appearances.

The source tells al-Hadath that Khamenei’s messages are written by new Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps chief Ahmad Vahidi and other members of the IRGC.

“Iran’s internal divisions are deep and threaten the existence of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps,” the source is cited as saying.

The Israeli source also says that the US does not want Israel to participate in strikes on Iran, even if Tehran attacks Israel.
