Palestinian Released After Illegally Crossing US Border Accused Of Attacking Jewish Man

A Palestinian migrant accused of assaulting a Jewish man in Long Island had been previously detained for illegally entering the United States, only to be swiftly released, according to a NY Post report.

Bechir Lehbeib, 26, a self-described Palestinian from Mauritania, crossed into the U.S. through Lukeville, Arizona, on July 20, 2023, along with a group of more than 200 migrants. A report by the House Judiciary Committee, obtained by The Post, revealed that Lehbeib was released two days later on his own recognizance after claiming he feared for his safety in his home country.

Lehbeib eventually made his way to New York, where, in February 2024, he allegedly stole a pro-Israel flag from a porch in Hewlett, Nassau County. When the homeowner, Aleksandr Binyaminov, attempted to retrieve the flag, Lehbeib attacked him.

“I told him, ‘Give me the flags,’ and he just started fighting with me and punching me in my face,” Binyaminov recalled. “He basically got me in a choke position, threw me on the floor, and headbutted me. He was saying, ‘I’m from Palestine.’” Binyaminov noted that a relative of his wife had been killed in the Oct. 7 Hamas terror attacks in Israel.

Lehbeib allegedly told police at the time of his arrest, “If I see the flag of the people that killed my people, we will have a problem.” He now faces charges of second-degree assault, robbery, and criminal mischief, with hate-crime enhancements. Lehbeib is being held on a $50,000 bond.

Nassau County officials expressed outrage at the situation, criticizing the lax border enforcement that allowed Lehbeib to enter the U.S. and eventually commit the alleged attack.

IDF Confirms It Unintentionally Killed 3 Hostages In December Airstrike Targeting Hamas Commander
picture hole

The IDF confirmed on Tuesday that an airstrike in December, targeting Hamas Gaza City Brigade Chief Ahmed An-Dur, unintentionally killed three Israeli hostages. This announcement, which had been hinted at by officials in the past, marks the first public acknowledgment of the tragic incident.

In December, the IDF revealed that they had recovered five bodies of hostages in Gaza, three of whom were later linked to the airstrike. Although the military initially withheld specific details, it had hinted that its airstrike might have been responsible for the deaths of the hostages, saying it would only confirm the details after a thorough forensic investigation.

On Monday night, Israeli media outlet Channel 12 reported that the military had informed the hostages’ families but had not yet released the findings to the public. By Tuesday morning, the IDF officially confirmed the incident.

The three hostages killed in the strike—Elia Toledano, Nik Beizer, and Ron Sherman—were being held in a massive underground tunnel complex in northern Gaza, which the IDF described as a strategic stronghold for Hamas, complete with command centers, medical stations, and even rooms for weapons production.

Back in December, the IDF disclosed the discovery of five hostages’ bodies within the tunnel. However, the military only announced the recovery of two hostages’ bodies—Eden Zechariah and Ziv Dado—on December 12. The subsequent discovery of the other three bodies was kept under wraps until the IDF completed its operations in the area, due to concerns that revealing more details would endanger forces still in the field. The entire tunnel complex was later destroyed by IDF forces using 13 tons of explosives.

IDF Announces Death Of Soldier Killed In Ramming Attack Near Beit El

The IDF announced on Wednesday evening that an IDF soldier was killed in the ramming attack near Beit El in Binyamin on Wednesday morning.

He was identified as Staff Sgt. Geri Gideon Hanghal, H’yd, 24, from Nof HaGalil. He served in the Nachshon Battalion of the Kfir Brigade.

The terrorist who committed the horrific attack, ramming a fuel tanker into a bus stop, was shot and neutralized by a civilian and IDF soldiers.

He survived the shooting and was evacuated, fully conscious to Shaare Tzedek Hospital, where he is now being treated by Israeli medical staff.

2 IDF Soldiers Killed, 7 Injured After IDF Chopper Crashes In Gaza

The IDF on Wednesday morning confirmed that an Air Force “Yanshuf” rescue helicopter crashed while landing in the Philadelphi Corridor in the Rafah area in Gaza overnight Tuesday, killing two soldiers and injuring seven, one critically.

The helicopter was about to land at the helipad in Philadelphi to evacuate a soldier who was seriously wounded by sniper fire during combat in Rafah. At the last moment of landing, it crashed seconds before it was supposed to touch the ground so it did not fall from a significant height but still sustained heavy damage in the crash impact.

Following the crash, an operation was launched to evacuate the injured soldiers and secure the area. Four helicopters and many forces were dispatched to the area. Eight soldiers, including the soldier injured in combat, were evacuated to Soroka Hospital, one in critical condition and four in serious condition. The critically injured soldier was a female pilot. Following the crash, she was trapped in the cockpit for several minutes, hovering between life and death, as her comrades struggled to extricate her. The doctors are now fighting for her life.

The soldiers who were killed, both members of the Air Force’s 669 Rescue Unit, were identified early Wednesday afternoon as Sgt. Maj. (res.) Daniel Alloush, H’yd, 37, from Tel Aviv, and Sgt. Maj. (res.) Tom Ish-Shalom, H’yd, 38, from Nes Harim.

Alloush, z’l, left behind a wife and two small children, and Ish-Shalom, z’l, left behind a wife and three children, a 13-year-old son and twin 11-year-old daughters.

An initial investigation shows that the crash was not due to enemy fire. The cause of the crash is still under investigation but is believed to be the result of a technical failure or human error. In the wake of the tragic incident, Air Force Chief Maj.-Gen. Tomer Bar has established a military investigative committee to examine the circumstances of the incident.
