BREAKING: Five teenagers have been arrested over the alleged kidnap of a Jewish man in north London. |
Hackney Police said on Tuesday that three 17-year-olds, one aged 15 and one aged 18 had been taken into custody. Footage was posted online of the victim walking along Moundfield Road in Stamford Hill when two suspects jumped out of a car. One told him to get into the boot of their vehicle. The Jewish man, who was on his phone, backed away from them. One then appeared to jump towards him in a threatening manner. Only when the victim threatened to call the police, do they get back in their car and drive away. The men drove away from the scene without their intended victim. The Metropolitan Police are appealing for help to identify the suspects. A report was made to the Met who are working with Shomrim – a neighbourhood watch group for the Orthodox Jewish community – after it launched its own appeal. “The victim was approached by one of the males and allegedly told the victim to get into the boot of the car, shortly before driving off. “The incident was reported to the police and an investigation was launched by officers based in Hackney. Anyone with information should call 101, giving the reference CAD 5836/26APR. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. |
